Well Cardinals Nation, he has done it again! Yadier Molina has won his 7th Rawlings Gold Glove Award. Even though many counted him out of the race for the award this year due to injury which caused him to miss 40 games, he was still a deserving player.
Molina posted a career high .998 fielding percentage this season, only committed two errors, and caught 48% of attempted basestealers. Granted, Molina didn’t play as many games as the other nominees, Jonathan Lucroy and Russell Martin, but his defensive stats still passed theirs with flying colors.
Molina has won all of his seven Gold Glove Awards consecutively. The most ever won consecutively was by Greg Maddux, who won 13 in his Hall of Fame career.
Yadi also took home another Rawlings Platinum Glove Award. The Rawlings Platinum Glove Award is given to the best overall defender in each league. This award has only been around for four years, and he has received three of them.
