Breakdown of some of the Cardinals’ Wednesday draftees

 On Wednesday, the 2015 Major League Baseball Player Draft concluded. The Cardinals drafted twenty-nine players on the closing day of the draft. I’ll take you through the first fourteen, in order, now. 


1. Paul Salazar- Pitcher  


Paul Salazar is a right handed pitcher from Lutheran South High School. His fastball rocks around at 94 miles per hour. He is ranked as the nineteenth best player in the state of Texas by

2. Jacob Schlesener- Pitcher  

   Jacob Schlesener is a left handed pitcher from Logan-Rogersville High School. His best pitch is his fastball, which sits around 92 MPH. His offspeed selection is nothing to blink at though, as his breaking pitches are quite nasty. 

3. Craig Aikin- Outfielder  

 Craig is an outfielder from the Univeristy of Oklahoma. In his college career, he has played in 145 games. He has batted .316 in 586 at bats. He has driven in sixty-two. 

4. Carson Cross- Pitcher  

   Carson is a right hander from the University of Connecticut. In 254 innings of work, Carson a 2.20 earned run average and a 1.06 WHIP. 

5. Ryan Merrill- Second Baseman  

Ryan is a second baseman from Iowa Western Community College. In the 2015 season, he played in 55 games. In those games he hit an even .400 with six bombs. 

6. Max Almonte- Pitcher  

Max is a right handed pitcher from Vilanocva Univeristy. In 153 innings of work he had there, he struck out eighty-six batters. 

7. Chris Chinea- Catcher 

 Chris is a catcher from Louisiana State University. In his college days, he batted 323 and had and OPS of .868. He drove in eighty-two runs. 

8. Josh Rolette- Catcher  

 Josh is a catcher from Shawnee High School. This season, he has batted .489 with 48 RBI. He has also hit seven long balls. 

9. Ryan McCarvel- Catcher  


Ryan is a catcher from Howard College-TX. This season, he has a .403 batting average in 58 games. He has a little pop in his bat, too. He has jacked 18 and drove in 83. 

10. Luke Doyle- Second Baseman 

Luke is a second baseman from Yavapal College. In sixty-three games this season, he has batted .373. He has 53 RBI and fifteen steals. 

11. Cadyn Grenier- Shortstop   

Cadyn is a shortstop for Bishop Gorman High School.  This year, he has bated .472. He has also swiped tweny seven bags. 

12. Hunter Newman- First Baseman 

  Hunter is a first baseman for Trevecca Nazarene University. This season, he has a hitting mark of .451. He has hit eighteen long balls and drove in 77. 

13. Gio Brusa- Outfielder  

Gio is an outfielder from University of Pacific. In his 480 AB there, he is batting .265. He has also scored seventy runs. 

14. Daniel Miller- Second Baseman 

 Daniel is a second baseman from Azusa a Pacific University. In 2015, he has a slugging percentage of .678. He has belted sixteen homers.
